Volunteer Opportunities


There are several areas in and around the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission that offcer volunteer opportunities. We are currently in need of volunteers who can serve in the following areas:

GED Tutor - Assisting clients improve skills as they prepare to take the GED test.

Hair Care - Bring styling services to Rescue Mission clients.

Food Pantry - Assist by greeting clients and/or helping them select food items, sorting food, stocking pantry shelves

Clothing Ministry - Greet clients and/or assist them with clothing selections.

Reception - Serving in the New Life Center on an "as needed basis," answering phones, greeting visitors.

Serving Food - Serving the plates of residents in the Life Builders program at either lunch or dinner.

Meal Preparation - Cooking a meal for residents in either the Life Builders program, or the Transformers program.

Driver

Greeter - Assisting in the Rescue Mission's Thrift Store by greeting customers.

Thrift Store Assistant - Assisting employees of the Thrift Store.

Landscaping - Seasonally, help is needed in mulching, planting, etc. of the Rescue Mission campus.

Painting - On an as needed basis, we use painters to help keep facilities maintained.

Gift Wrapping - At holiday time, we use volunteers to assist with the wrapping of gifts for approximately 120 men.

Special Events - This includes fundraisers, banquet, etc. Volunteers can help with decorating, serving guests, settiing up, moving necessary items to the site of the event, execution, and/or clean-up.
