A Christian Politician

A couple of weeks ago the Southern Legislative Conference met in Winston-Salem. It was our privilege to provide accommodations for one of the legislators. His name was Tom Riner. Mr. Riner has a unique ministry of staying and serving in rescue missions in the different cities where the conference is held. This year he chose to stay with us in the New Life Center. He spoke to our men in two separate chapel services and answered many questions. He spoke about praying for God to direct him as he voted on different pieces of legislation in Kentucky. In a day when politicians are viewed in a negative light, it was a privilege to spend time with a dedicated Christian servant like Tom. I learned so much about how God can use Christians in public office to promote His plans. Mr. Riner gave me a special award from the governor of Kentucky. They have an award given to those who spend their lives serving others. It is called the Kentucky Colonel award. Those two days were an inspiration and encouragement to me.
